From 2021, the new framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe, will come into force. It takes over from the Horizon 2020 programme, which ends at the end of 2020.



The general objectives of the Horizon Europe programme are to:
  • to strengthen the Union's scientific and technological base;
  • boost its competitiveness, including that of its industry;
  • to implement the Union's strategic policy priorities;
  • contribute to addressing global issues, including the Sustainable Development Goals.
The aim of the programme is to anchor research and innovation even more deeply and concretely in a context marked by societal and European challenges.
