The French universities prepare for courses of engineering in specialized schools. These schools are grouped together in a network of 13 institutions. The committee of engineering diplomas (CTI in French) masters the training given in colleges of engineering and validates the diplomas.

The courses of engineering give both a very strong theoretical training in sciences and an experience of the engineering job. A rigorous selection is made before entering. The course lasts three years.

These courses are linked closely to the professionals, who are involved constantly in the evolution of the courses. This allows getting a job quickly, once graduated.

In Tours, the College of Engineering, Polytech’Tours, offers a training of qualified engineers in five specialties. This training is strengthened by internships and projects.

The five specialties are:
  • Urban planning: sustainable urban planning, eco-mobility, regional planning
  • Electronic and electrical energy systems: micro-electronic technologies, energy, environment
  • Computer sciences: internet and multimedia, virtual reality, health and disability, logistics
  • Industrial computing: on-board computing and electronics
  • Mechanics and design of systems: advanced mechanics of materials, bio-mechanics
Polytech’Tours offers research courses in its Health, Sciences and Technology doctorates school, giving the possibility to the students to follow a doctorate. The engineering courses are tightly linked to the research teams, who work in laboratories set up in the school.
