Second year Masters in French as a Foreign or Second Language - Distance learning

Coursework R, Languages, Societies, Acquisition in the specialization French as a Foreign or Second Language: (PIPOL) Pluralities, Intercultural and Linguistic Policies. This diversity brings together several universities (Tours, Angers, Le Mans, Rennes II) as well as sociolinguists, specialists in the French language, pedagogical specialists, etc., working in complement and across disciplines. This diversity is consistent with the thematic approaches developed by the research team 4246 PREFICs-DYNADIV, which ensures the supervision of the research projects of the students in the Second year Masters research section.

OBJECTIVES

The specialization Pluralities, Intercultural and Linguistic Policies aims at developing knowledge and competence founded on:
  • qualitative and reflective approaches conceived as, at the same time, content, modalities and training objectives
  • the themes of diversity and plurality in questions linked to the adaptation, the diffusion, and the acquisition of French (and languages) in the contexts of diversity: linguistic, cultural and formative.

Students also learn to identify and isolate issues; to analyze situations where linguistic and cultural diversity is an important issue; to contribute to development and to research, to teaching and / or training programs from the point of view of language acquisition and / or sociolinguistics (linguistic policies, notably).

PROFESSIONNAL OPPORTUNITIES

The natural continuation of a second year Masters in research is to continue research in the form of a Ph.D. dissertation. However, given the relationship between professional and research aspects of the two specializations PIPOL et APPRODIV (many courses in common), students who do not wish to continue past the Masters can find work and research opportunities in different fields related to linguistic diversity and language acquisition.
