DUT Communication in organisations

This diploma provides training for future internal and external communication professionals in all types of organisations (companies, public collectivities, associations).

The courses are administered by a combination of university teachers and communication professionals.

The training programme is composed of lectures in the theory of communication, tutorial classes, and practical work, all of which contribute to a diversified, practical, vocational diploma.
 

  • Objectives

Students improve their general knowledge and their linguistic expression and learn to master the various tools used by communication professionals. Two compulsory work placements (four weeks in Year 1 and eight weeks in Year 2) give students the opportunity to implement their knowledge and perfect their skills.

In small groups of three or four students, they also take part in projects supervised by a communication professional in which, over the two years of their studies, they organise a particular event (cultural, sporting, artistic, educational, etc.) and perform all the communication operations necessary for the promotion and the success of that event.

This project allows students to put into practice their skills in budgeting, searching for partners and sponsors, scheduling, task sharing, graphic design, etc.

At the end of their two-year course, students possess both solid theoretical knowledge and broad professional skills which ensure their competence in positions such as communication assistant, public relations assistant, press attaché or assistant responsible for clients in a communication agency.

Students can either begin their careers directly in a private or public communication department or continue their studies to obtain a bachelors or masters degree in a communication or business school, either in France or abroad.
 

  • Contents or models of training

The course includes:

- teaching aimed at broadening students' horizons and improving their general knowledge : the science of information and communication, law, economics, the media, the history of communication, sociology
- intensive language work by means of written and oral expression, drama classes and specialised classes in two foreign languages
- teaching performed by communication professionals : communication plans and strategies, visual communication, communication tools, crisis communication, advertising
- computing tools : multimedia, image editing, website creation, data sharing, polling techniques, video editing
- workshops and projects in relation with events management, the organisation of exhibitions, poster, brochure and flyer design, visual support creations
