Socio-Anthropology and media cultures

UEL Socio-Anthropology and media cultures

In Western societies, the decisive, multi-faceted and complex influence of media and beliefs applies to numerous sectors of social life. Opinion leaders staging and dramatizing, new types of telegenic authorities, current forms of religiosity and their corteges of idolatry, the emergence of ritualized patterns of emotions, the encounter of democratic ideology and media aestheticization, all misinforming rather than informing, constitute a new socio-anthropological field of investigation.

Taking all this into account, the module proposes themes that are adapted to each level and that are also autonomous (as such, students may participate in all the classes each semester and specialize in the general theme or decide to follow one or other class indiscriminately).
