  • The services offered by the EURAXESS Services Centre
EURAXESS was created in 2004 at the initiative of the European Commission. This network aims at facilitating the mobility of Researchers. More than 200 centers in 40 countries Europe wide assist them (as well as researchers' family) in all matters relating to their professional and daily life.

In the Région Centre, the EURAXESS Centre Tours’ objective is to contribute to a first-class welcome for the PhD, post-doctoral students and professor-researchers who want to prepare their stay in Tours by means of its privileged contact with the local authorities and its individualized assistance.

 

         Very important - Not to forget!

Before your departure: Please contact the EURAXESS Centre at least two months before your planned arrival date in order to help us prepare your stay.
Check the list of documents to prepare before your departure to France.
Before leaving France: do not forget to carry out some formalities regarding your departure.

 

  • Welcome and support services

After your arrival we will be glad to meet you in our office and give you a welcome pack with a multitude of useful information on the University and the city of Tours. This will also represent an opportunity for you to ask any question you may have. Furthermore, you will benefit from our support for your appointments with the Prefecture or the bank.

 

  • Accommodation 

Find an accommodation: the EURAXESS Services Centre assists you in finding a convenient housing solution and can suggest different options.

Housing benefit: If you want to apply for a housing benefit, you’ll have to contact the Caisse d'Allocations Familiales d'Indre et Loire (CAF). If needed, the EURAXESS Services Centre can help you with completing your file.

 

  • Administrative formalities

Formalities of entry and stay: If you come to France under the scientific status, you will need a scientific visa and a Convention d'Accueil issued by our service. In direct contact with the Prefecture of Tours, we will help you to obtain your resident permit. Click here [PDF - 62 Ko] for the list of documents to prepare.  Assistance with health cover, insurance, CAF file, upon request.

 

  • Everyday life and leisure

Bank account: Thanks to the partnership between Kastler Foundation and the Société Générale you can benefit from a free bank card during six months, on condition that you register under www.fnak.fr to obtain your free guest researcher card.
French lessons: You can learn or improve your French thanks to our lessons, free of charge for foreign researchers or doctoral students.  
Cultural excursions: Come and discover the cultural and gastronomic heritage of the region by joining the tours and excursions organized by the International Relations Office. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need more information.
